Lindsey Wilson Women's Soccer No. 1 in Nation in NAIA

Blue Raiders reach Nationally No. Ranking for first time since 2009 season

KANSAS CITY, MO - After back-to-back weeks as the nation's No. 2-ranked team, the Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team climbed to the top in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll, released on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, by the NAIA.



Lindsey Wilson jumped to No. 1 - its first since the 2009 season - after receiving 591 voting points and all 21 first-place votes. The Blue Raiders (7-0-1) earned the top spot after wins over Auburn University Montgomery (Alabama) and University of Rio Grande last week.

The Blue Raiders are the only MSC team ranked in the national poll.

Lindsey Wilson extended the nation's longest streak in the national poll to 129 weeks with its top ranking.

Lee (Tennessee) University moves up one spot to No. 2 in the national poll with 568 voting points. Azusa Pacific (California) University - last week's top-ranked team - dropped two spots to No. 3 with 536 voting points.

The next national poll is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. -CHRIS WELLS
