COLUMBIA, KY - A pair of former baseball greats will be inducted into the Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

The inductees are: Steve Dover, who played from 1998-2001 and Randy Hale who played from 1997-2000.

"These inductees continue a tradition of excellence that was established with the founding of our Hall of Fame," said Lindsey Wilson Athletics Director Willis Pooler. "This is the highest honor a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete, coach or administrator can receive, and we are pleased to welcome Steve and Randy into our Hall of Fame."

Dover and Hale are the third and fourth baseball players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 2011 class will be inducted in a ceremony at Lindsey Wilson's Roberta C. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center at 9:30amCT on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

Steve Dover (1998-2001) concluded his Lindsey Wilson College career as one of the most prolific sluggers in Blue Raider history. To this day, Dover still owns the Lindsey Wilson record for career home runs (72), career runs batted in (252) and home runs in a single season (20) -- which he achieved twice in his career.

Dover held the NAIA record for most career home runs for nine years before it was broken in 2010. He still ranks second on the all-time NAIA list. In addition to his home runs and RBIs, Dover ranks in the program's top-10 in hits, runs, doubles, walks, slugging percentage and games played.

During his career, Dover earned all-conference honors all four seasons while helping the Blue Raiders to a 125-80 record, including two conference championship and one regional title.

Randy Hale (1998-2000) concluded his Lindsey Wilson College career as a four-time all-conference selection, a two-time all-region selection and once selected as a NAIA honorable mention All-American.

Hale's career numbers are some of the most impressive in Lindsey Wilson College baseball history. More than a decade after his playing career, Hale is still the program's all-time leader in hits (298), runs (241) and doubles (65).

In all, Hale ranks in the program's top-10 in nine different offensive categories, including second all-time in home runs, triples and games played.

Hale helped the Blue Raiders to a 136-76 record during his career, including three conference championships and one regional title.

The Hall of Fame ceremony, including the banquet breakfast, is open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact the LWC Athletics Office at ahtletics@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8070. -CHRIS WELLS, LWC Athletics
