Poem by Vonnie Kolbenschlag: Stop Stop Do Not Top

Stop. Stop. Do Not Top
by Vonnie Kolbenschlag
If trees could speak
They 'wood' shriek,
"Oh! my limbs - do not sever
and disfigure me forever!

The straight across hacking
leaves' my immune system lacking.
It weakens me so,
Though I'll still try to grow -
But I'll no longer be strong,

And I'll not live as long,
With these cuts that are WRONG!"

"My 'sap' tears are dropping
With the practice called "topping."
--Vonnie Kolbenschlag, July 10, 2011
