ORLANDO, FL - For the second straight year an Athletic Director of the Year honor will be bestowed upon Campbellsville University Athletics Director Rusty Hollingsworth. The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced this week that Hollingsworth has been named an Under Armour AD of the Year.

Hollingsworth is currently attending NACDA's 46th Annual Convention in Orlando, FL., where he will receive the award Saturday, June 18 during the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon at the World Center Marriott Resort.

Hollingsworth, who was named the Mid-South Conference AD of the Year in 2010, will receive the Under Armour AD of the Year award for the NAIA Southeast.

One award is given to four geographical regions for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), NAIA, NCAA Division III, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division I, the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision and the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. A total of 28 awards will be presented.

"It's always nice to be honored by your peers with an award like this.I share this with everyone who works in our department, the administration that supports our efforts and the entire campus community. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to work in an environment that fosters the development of character like Campbellsville University does. It is enjoyable to come to work every day with a group of coaches that care about the well being of their student-athletes," Hollingsworth said. "I would also like to express my thanks to NACDA and Under Armour for selecting me to be a recipient of this award."

Hollingsworth, who called the Campbellsville job an "opportunity of a lifetime," upon taking his post on July 23, 2001, continues to say daily that he's "living the dream."

That dream in 2010-11 saw Campbellsville University win six conference championships to claim the Mid-South Conference President's Cup for the second-straight year as the conference's top athletic program. Also in 2010-11, CU sent 19 of its 23 sports programs to a national postseason in the NAIA, National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) or United States Bowling Congress (USBC). In addition to success on the field, Campbellsville was honored as a Five Star Champions of Character program by the NAIA in the summer of 2010 and had both its women's basketball and football teams receive the NAIA Champion of Character Team Award during the 2010 calendar year.

In 2009-10, the athletics department raised $1.2 million for facility upgrades. The "More Than a Game" campaign was such a success the financial goal was increased to $2 million in September 2010 for further growth of CU's facilities.

During his 10 years at CU, the athletics department has constructed an indoor practice facility, lighted tennis courts, the Gosser Gymnasium for wrestling, the Hawkins Athletic Complex and weight room and put turf and lights on the football stadium and lights on the baseball field.

Hollingsworth has also helped grow the athletic department in number of student-athletes, coaches and teams. Since 2001, he has overseen the additions of men's wrestling, men's and women's bowling, men's and women's indoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field, as well as the reinstatement of men's track and field and women's swimming.

"All of us at Campbellsville University are very proud of Rusty Hollingsworth and extend our congratulations to him on receiving the athletic director of the year award for the southeast region of the United States," said Dr. Michael V. Carter, university president."This is further confirmation of what we know - that Rusty is a hard worker who is dedicated to our goal of developing a nationally competitive intercollegiate athletic program for our student-athletes. He has assembled a talented team of coaches who are working to develop competitive teams comprised of young men and women of character. He is a model of professionalism, hard work and dedication, and success while serving as a wonderful role model for our student-athletes and all involved at Campbellsville University and in intercollegiate athletics."

In addition to his duties as athletics director at Campbellsville, he currently serves on the NAIA Rules and Rating committee within the National Administrative Council. Prior to that, he served four years as the NAIA Region XI chair and served on the initial Champions of Character committee. He also has served two terms as the chair of the Mid-South Conference athletic directors.

Hollingsworth was also named the Mid-South Conference AD of the Year in 2004.
