Lindsey VP Bettie Starr congratulates A-teams

"On behalf of everyone in the Lindsey Wilson community, I congratulate the members of the Adair Middle School International Championships of Future Problem Solving team on their top-10 finish. The Adair County School System is also to be commended for supporting their participation. There is nationwide concern about U.S. students not being able to compete with international students, but the performance of the Adair Middle school team clearly illustrates that top U.S. students can successfully compete with students from other countries in the realm of problem-solving. It is particularly important that the competition focuses on creative problem-solving related to global issues. A focus on these two issues -- higher-order thinking and intercultural understanding -- is important in preparing students for college and for the world of work."

-- Bettie Starr, Lindsey Wilson College vice president for academic affairs
