High-Octane VBS at Columbia Baptist Church

It's one of the biggest Vacation Bible School events ever. A meal is served each night, and on commencement night those who attend every night will be eligible to win a bicycle - from choice of three models - and other prizes. But the important thing is the Bible Study - being presented in a unique way

The theme for Columbia Baptist's VBS this year is "Big Apple Adventure". Each evening is kicked-off with live energetic praise and worship, kicked up a notch with drums, electric guitars, and tambourine. All are welcome to attend the opening session, which lasts about 30 minutes. Then the children begin an exciting two and a half-hour journey through different stations for Crafts, Music, Bible Study, Recreation, and an Evening Meal. Last night's dinner was hot dogs, potato chips, cut corn, and apple dippers--Yum! There is always something going on!

Vacation Bible School is a lot of fun to be sure, but the heartbeat of it all is sharing the message of Jesus's love with the children, and this firm foundation is woven into the texture of every class and station, and most especially the Bible Study. At the end of the evening, kids from the different classes begin streaming back into the sanctuary for the dismissal, at which point a nightly drawing is held. All children attending will have their name in the hat and several names will be drawn each night for various prizes, such as huge bubble blowers, mega candy bars, t-shirts, Nerf balls and more.

Thursday night is the VBS Finale complete with Commencement Service, and families and friends of the children are encouraged to attend! Also, not to be missed on Thursday night is the BIG drawing. One name will be drawn from the 2-5 year old classes to receive a Little Tykes Sand and Water Play Table. For kids attending 3 out of the 4 nights, one lucky kid will have their name drawn for a bicycle (there will be three to choose from for size and gender). Last but not least, kids attending 4 out of the 4 nights will have a chance to win one Nintendo DS with game and case!
