Joe Johnson Little League Park will remain

Nancy Taylor writes:
In response to the outpouring discussion regarding the name of the Little League park, the following statement is being released:

Please be advised that at no time whatsoever did the current Board of Directors for the Adair County Little League Baseball, Inc., ever discuss or vote to change the name of the park. The matter is simply a misunderstanding and/or miscommunication.

Due to fading issues of the various signs located at the entry of Industrial Park Drive, a contact was made to a Board member regarding the reprinting of the Little League sign. Not specifically knowing that the park itself was known as "Joe Johnson Little League Park", and without looking at the previous faded sign, the Board member requested that the "Adair County Little League Park" sign be reprinted, and that is exactly what happened. Of course, the sign will be reprinted again with the correction made.

We do however wish that communication could have come directly to a Board member, instead of going to the media first. It could have saved alot of unnecessary criticism directed at the Board of Directors, which never had any intention of renaming the park at any time. Once again, it was simply a misunderstanding and/or miscommunication.

Sincerely,

Board of Directors
Adair County Little League Baseball, Inc.
