Tiger basketball adds three transfers for 2011-12 One from Texas, one from Indiana, and third from Croatia coming to Campbellsville University for coming season By Chris Megginson News from Campbellsville University Athletics CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University men's basketball announced the addition of three transfers for the 2011-12 season Monday, June 6, 2011. The Tigers pick up combo guard Justin Ennis of Huntsville, TX, small forward Filip Stanic of Croatia and post player Jordan Myers of Ferdinand, IN. The three transfers bring the total of recruits for 2011-12 to five, as the trio joins junior college transfer Rilwan Bakare and Bowling Green High School point guard Darius Clement. Ennis comes to CU after being the second-leading scorer at Grayson County College in Texas. The 5-foot-10 guard was a first team all-conference selection as a sophomore in 2011 with 11.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He plans to study pre-pharmacy at Campbellsville. "Justin is a great student and great young man," CU head coach Keith Adkins said. "He brings to us a guy that has proven himself against great junior college competition playing in one of the better Texas JUCOs. We're confident he's ready to play at this level and help us immediately. "On and off the floor, you will not find a better person than Justin Ennis. Coming from Grayson County and coach Rafferty, once again we know he's ready to come in and contribute immediately." Another Texas community college transfer, Stanic, will remind Tiger fans of one of their record holding shooters, Adkins said. The 6-fot-6 small forward from Collin County College in Plano, TX is "Korey Mitchell, but bigger," said the Tiger head coach. Mitchell holds CU's record for the most 3-pointers in a single game. "He's a big time shooter ... We're bringing in a kid in Filip, who has also proven himself against some of the better junior college teams in Texas. Playing for Coach Jim Sigona, we know he has received great coaching at the junior college level and we're excited about the experience and skill level he brings to our team," Adkins said. Stanic, a native of Croatia, prepped in Indiana before playing junior college ball at Collin County, where he averaged 7.6 points per game as a sophomore in 2010-11 behind five double-figure scorers. He was second on the team in 3-point field goal percentage as a freshman and sophomore, shooting 41 percent beyond the arc. During his sophomore season in 2010-11, he led all bench players with 29 3-pointers. He had the fewest turnovers on his team among everyday players both years, with 17 career turnovers in 47 games played. Myers, a transfer from NCAA Division I school Southern Illinois University will come to Campbellsville as a sophomore on the court. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound post player played in five games as a freshman, at SIU, scoring his only basket in a game against Charleston Southern. He was redshirted in 2009-10, but averaged 14.6 points and shot 53.4 percent from the floor during a Reach USA all-star team trip to China in May 2010. "Jordan brings to us great size and skill level in the post. Even though his minutes at Southern Illinois were not extensive, we're still talking about a post player that signed in the Missouri Valley Conference," Adkins said. "His minutes were probably limited at Southern Illinois because of style of play. He will be a special player here at Campbellsville. He has a high skill level, high basketball IQ and any Division I transfer coming to us we expect to be an exceptional player." During his days at Forest Park High School in Indiana, Myers was a First Team All-Southwest Indiana selection as a senior after averaging 19.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He is the son of Greg Myers and Michele Myers. Greg is a children's pastor at Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville, IN. The five new signees will join returning players Reggie Smith and Jonas Bohm on the 2011-12 Tiger team, as well as 2010-11 redshirt Kevin Bobson. This story was posted on 2011-06-07 10:40:30
