News from Campbellsville University Athletics

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - While both could have signed to play small college basketball, O'Dell Traylor and Jordan Adams decided bowling is the sport for them at the collegiate level. Campbellsville University men's bowling coach John Rausch announced his first two 2011-12 true freshmen signees Monday, June 6, 2011, as the program prepares for its third season of competition.

Traylor, a graduate of Hoover High School in Hoover, AL, was the first men's recruit to sign for 2011-12, doing so during his high school basketball playoffs in February. Adams, a native of Riverside, CA, signed in May.

Traylor, who stands at 6-foot-2, passed on basketball, a sport in which he was a starting forward, to become the first Hoover High School student-athlete to ever sign a collegiate bowling scholarship.

"Though I'm good at basketball, I've bowled a majority of my life," said Traylor, who was born in California. "Basketball keeps me in shape. I thought about pursuing basketball, but with bowling getting more serious, I never thought too much of playing college basketball."

The first Alabama signee for the Tiger program averaged 215 early in the 2010-11 season and has a career high game of 277, which came this past January in the City Tournament at Vestavia Bowl, his home lanes. He finished first in the tournament for singles action and was second in doubles.

Traylor plans to study criminal justice at CU.

Adams, a graduate of Sultana High School in Riverside, CA, averaged 198 as a high school junior in 2009-10 and is currently averaging 209 for the 2010-11 youth season. The duo joins current CU student and former marching band member Kyle Becknell of Nicholasville, KY. Becknell was unable to compete in bowling during his freshman year of 2010-11 due to his music schedule, but has changed majors and accepted a bowling scholarship to remain at CU. Becknell is a right-handed, two-hand bowler.
