National Correctional Employees week and National Nurses week

By Rick Wilson, Adair County Jailer

I feel compelled to acknowledge and honor two important professions that I am affiliated with: National Correctional Employees Week which is the first full week in May and National Nurses Week which begins Friday May 6 and runs thru May 12, 2011.

Correctional employees provide a safe, secure and humane environment for both staff and offenders. A career in corrections is one of the most challenging and noble professions one can pursue.

Our employees work cooperatively every day with religious and community organizations, the fiscal court, the judge executives office, inmate families, law enforcement agencies, the judicial community and the Department of Corrections. The following employees work at the Adair County Regional Jail and Restricted Custody Center: Pam Yarberry, Eric Antle, Kay Butler, Alan Burton, Karen Tiller, Judy Derman, Marc Evans, Dennis Selby, Michael Decker, Bonnie Loy, Pat Ferguson, Toon Burton, Mark Jones, Jamie Luttrell, Lonnie McAllister, Bryan Morris, Debbie Coffey, Randy Middlecamp, Travis Darling, Kathryn Burton, Mary Curry, Bryon Hixson, Sharmarie, Claiborne, Lee Ann Roy, Chase Wills, John Powell, Carolyn Burton, Ricky Bennett, Beth Frost, Jeramy Stearns, Sammy Genakos and Paul Blevins.

The jail receives medical care provided by Southern Health Partners Nurse Rhonda Neat. Correctional nurses are a unique and specialized profession. Correctional nurses provide medical care and even help to detoxify some inmates with drug addictions. These nurses are an important part of the team that is responsible for inmates well being.

The staff that work at our jail are true professionals and come to work to do a good job. I appreciate the excellent work that they all do.

Thank you.

Rick Wilson, Adair County Jailer
