Southern California standout Schmidt signs with LWC Cycling Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics COLUMBIA, KY - Vhasti Schmidt, a Riverside, CA., native, has committed to race for the Lindsey Wilson College cycling team beginning in the 2011-12 season, Blue Raider head coach David Grigsby announced on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. In her most recent prep races, Schmidt finished second in the Southern California High School Cycling Championships at Vail Lake, CA., and took second place overall in the SoCal high-school series. As a member of the Woodcrest Christian High School varsity mountain-bike squad with barely a year of racing the bike under her belt, Schmidt is already the third ranked high school female in Southern California. "Vhastis' success comes from an incredibly strong work ethic and dedication to rigorous training," Grigsby said. "She excels in many sports including basketball, softball and volleyball, but her passion is the bicycle and we are so honored to have her join our program."
