Allan Earns Mid-South Women's Golfer of the Week Award

By Chris Wells
News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics

LOUISVILLE, KY - Lindsey Wilson College freshman Kaitlin Allan is the Mid-South Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, May 2, 2011.

The weekly conference award is Allan's first of the season and the first of her career.

The Edmonton, Alberta, native, captured the Mid-South Conference Tournament title last week in dramatic fashion to earn the weekly honor. Allan won the event -- her first-career collegiate title -- on the second playoff hole over teammate Kelsey Joslyn.

Allan shot a 165 (84-81) under brutal conditions - heavy rains and high winds plagued both rounds - at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. After erasing a three-shot, first-round deficit, Allan pulled even with Joslyn and then claimed medalist honors with two pars in the playoff.

With her play, Allan secured a spot on the all-conference team and earned MSC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year honors.

Allan led the No. 17-ranked Blue Raiders to the team title with a two-day total of 669 (331-338) and helped Lindsey Wilson claim the conference's automatic bid into the NAIA National Tournament later this month.
