Morales Earns 3rd Straight MSC Men'sTennis Player of the Week

Lindsey Men get to NAIA National finals

LOUISVILLE,KY - For the third straight time, Lindsey Wilson College freshman Fabricio Morales is the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, May 2, 2011.

The weekly conference award is the third of the season for Morales. Morales finished last week with a perfect 3-0 record in No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles to earn the weekly mens tennis honor.



The Cancun, Mexico, native, swept through the competition without dropping a set en route in singles wins over the top player from University of the Cumberlands, Tennessee Wesleyan College and Union College in the NAIA Qualifying Tournament in Chattanooga, TN.

Morales beat Cumberlands Oscar Pantoja 6-1, 6-3 to help the Blue Raiders to a 5-2 win over Cumberlands in the tournaments quarterfinals. Morales endured his toughest singles match of the tournament in a 7-5, 6-3 win over Tennessee Wesleyans Giovanni Santos in the top singles match of the semifinals in a 6-3 Blue Raider win.

He closed out No. 10-ranked Unions top player in dominating fashion with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Nicolas Ernst to help the Blue Raiders to a 5-3 team win and a berth into the NAIA National Tournament.

Playing at No. 2 doubles, Morales and partner Victor Saez won their doubles matches by scores of 8-2, 8-6 and 8-4. Each win helped Lindsey Wilson take a 2-1 doubles lead into singles play.

The Blue Raiders tandem improves to 16-1 on the season.

Morales perfect week helped the Blue Raiders improve to 14-5 overall this season.
