CU will hold Opera Workshop on May 1, 2011

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Campbellsville University will hold an Opera Workshop Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 3pmCT, in the Gheens Recital Hall, located in the Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University DR, Campbellsville, KY.The program is free and open to the public.



Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music at CU, will be the director; and Carla Farias, a graduate student from Joao Pessoa, Brazil, will play the piano.

The program will feature famous opera music presented in a concert format. Music from the operas: "Die Fledermaus" by Strauss; "Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert & Sullivan; "Il Trovatore" by Verdi; "Die Zauberflote" by Mozart; "Amahl and the Night Visitors" by Mennotti; "Carmen" by Bizet; and "Les Pecheurs des Pearles" by Bizet will be included in the playlist.

Most of the opera's songs will be performed in English, but there will be some French, German, and Italian songs also.

The students and musicians performing will be: Eunkyung Bae of Campbellsville, KY; Amelia Herrin of Sonora, KY; Carri Hunt of Mount Vernon KY; Hahae Jung, a graduate student in voice from Pohang, South Korea; Margareth Miguel, a graduate student from Sao Paulo, Brazil; Taeeun Moon, a graduate student from Busan, South Korea; Juliana Moura, instructor in voice; Jian Jia Wang, an ESL student from Beijing, China; and Ping Zhou a native of Beijing, China.
