Pinhooking always topic at Flatts' Little (Stockyards) Restaurant

It was writers' parents place across the road from the old Adair County Stockyards
Comments re article 43896 COF Pinhooking was business for racetrack fairgroundsBy Von Price

My parents had the "Little" eating place across the street from the Old Stockyard and I remember well hearing the farmers talking about "Pinhooking."They would bring their cattle in to sell and buyers would jump on the back of their trucks and bid on them before they would unload.

And I also remember that everyone would talk about the late Harold Mouser, that he was one of the best as was Bobby Hatcher.

Anyone who ever went to the Old Stockyards would come over and eat at the "Little" Restaurant across the street - or maybe I should say across the road.Mother would have Fried Apple Pies, Hot Roast Beef w/Mashed Potatoes, Fish Sandwiches, and of course the staple of life HAMBURGERS!

I remember Harold Mouser always would put salt in his small bottle of Coca-Cola It is funny things that you remember when you were young and now you can't remember anything!

Thanks, Von Price. The Flatt name was synonymous with great food, particularly Great Fair Food. Now we wonder, does anyone have photos of the Adair County Stockyards to share? Of the Little Restaurant? Or any of the other comments or recollections about that once great institution, located where Hobdy, Dye & Read, 1122 Campbellsville RD, Columbia, KY, is today? We very much appreciate receiving more information on the subject and on Stockyards Food from around the area. -CM
