Accident in Taylor Co., KY takes life of Green Co. HS senior

Taylor County Sheriff's Department, Campbellsville, KY investigated a fatality collision at 11:27amET/10:27amCT, Tuesday, April 5, 2011, on KY 289 and Red Fern Road which took the life of a 18 year old Green County High School student, Christopher Underwood, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Taylor County Coroner Terry Dabney.



Stephanie Welch, 17, Campbellsville RD, Campbellsville, KY, driving a 1997 Nissan Sentra, was attempting to cross KY 289 from Red Fern Road.Marsha Kessler, 17, Campbellsville, KY, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south on KY 289.

According to the Taylor County Sheriff's department, Welch pulled into the path of Kessler. Kessler's vehicle stopped in the middle of KY 289. Christopher Underwood, was a passenger in the Welch vehicle. Stephanie Welch was transported to nearby Taylor Regional Hospital by Campbellsville/Taylor Co. Rescue and airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.

Marsha Kessler was also transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by Campbellsville/Taylor Co. Rescue for multiple injuries.
Arrangements for services for Christopher Underwood are incomplete at this time at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY. Underwood was the son of Jacky Underwood of Greensburg and Autumn Bender of Summersville. He was the grandson of Helen Underwood and Gertrude Bender, both of Greensburg, KY, and Johnny Bender of Summersville, KY. -CM
