Cassie Rogers is 2011 Bernice Flowers Scholarship recipient She'll attend Lindsey Wilson College as biology major. Scholarship is named in honor of one of the 20th century's most revered Adair Countians, Bernice Rickman Flowers, a Christian Co., KY, native who instilled a love of patriotism in Adair County High School (and Columbia High School before) history and civics students By Ed Waggener Cassie Rogers, an outstanding senior at Adair County High School, has been awarded the 2011 Bernice Flowers Scholarship by the Adair County Democratic Women's Club, it was announced last night, Monday, April 4, 2011, at the group's meeting at the Chamber Building. Ms. Rogers is the daughter of Sixth District Magistrate Joe Rogers and Sandy Rogers. She is planning to attend Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY, where she will major in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Her grade point average is 3.923 on a 4.0 scale, ranking her 14th of 186 seniors in the ACHS Class of 2011. The scholarship is a one time $500 stipend, awarded each year to a college bound senior at Adair County High School. It honors one of the most revered Adair Countians of the 20th Century, Bernice Rickman Flowers, a Christian Co., KY native, who is remembered by so many Adair Countians instilling a respect for civics, history, and other scholarship. While Ms. Rogers has announced plans to attend Lindsey Wilson College, there are no restrictions as to the institution the recipient will attend, according to Victoria Pike, spokesperson for the Adair County Democratic Women's Club.
