Obituary: Sharon Willis Greer, 60, Knifley, KY

Sharon Willis Greer was a beloved community leader, a member of a large, highly respected North Adair County family. She was a member of Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church and held many leadership roles in the church. She was a lightling consultant for many years with Jeffries Hardware in Columbia, and was a founding member of the Janice Holt Giles Foundation.

Sharon Willis Greer, 60, Knifley, KY, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at the TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11:00amCT, Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with burial in the Chappel Cemetery at Knifley, KY. Visitation will be after 3:00pmCT, Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the funeral home.



She was born February 15, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Don Carlos Willis and Florine Bottoms Willis.

Mrs. Greer was a member of the Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church, where she held various positions of leadership within the church. She was a lighting consultant for Jeffres Hardware & Showcase Gallery and a founding member of the Janice Holt Giles Foundation.

Sharon loved spending time with her family and being her grandchildren's Gigi.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Shelton "Bill" Greer, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Melissa Greer Curry, Murfreesboro, TN; and Stacy Greer Jeffie (Jeff), Glasgow, KY

  • A son, Greg Greer (Destiny Burton and her son Camden), Knifley, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Lindsay Curry, Drake Jessie, Sarah Hayden Curry, Greer Curry, Carson Jessie, and Easton Jessie

  • two sisters: Margaret "Tootsie" Cox, Cincinnati, OH; and Bobbi Hermann, Indian Wells, CA

  • A brother-in-law: James Hood, Columbia, KY

  • And several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Hood.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church, c/o. Bryan Rich, PO Box 394, Columbia, KY 42728.

Casketbearers will be Ivan, Dwight, Phillip, Stewart, and Darrell Greer, Hank Konermann, Daryl Cox, and Don Byram.Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
