Buel Dean McDonald, 87, Casey County, KY

Buel Dean McDonald, of Dunnville, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Russell County Hospital. He was 87. Born on October 21, 1938, in Taylor County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Granville and Ophillia Tungate McDonald.

Buel was a long-time farmer and mechanic. He was an avid NASCAR fan.


He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Garrett McDonald; a daughter, Donna (and Floyd) Thomas of Nashville; stepchildren, Gary Schubert and Chris Schubert, both of Liberty; grandchildren, Brandie Skaggs and Brandon Holt; great-granddaughter, Riley Skaggs; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two brothers, George McDonald and David McDonald, both of Campbellsville; a special nephew, Henry Burress of Elkhorn; and a special grandson, Brandon Schubert of Dunnville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Nicholas McDonald, Phillip McDonald, Joseph McDonald, and Vonald McDonald; and sisters, Burdis Burress, Gracie Brown, and Merline Foster.

A memorial service will be held at 3pmET on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Lavender and Judy Patten officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 3 Wednesday.
