Sue Ann Zimmerman, 78, Russell County, KY Sue Ann Zimmerman, of Russell Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Russell County Hospital. She was 78 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age. Born on Saturday, May 3, 1947, in Creelsboro, Sue was a daughter of the late Rollin and Irene Lawless Shearer. Sue retired as a food service worker for the Russell County Board of Education, working at Russell County High School as well as other schools. Sue was a faithful member of the Russell Springs Christian Church. She loved old country music and family gatherings, especially Christmas. Sue was a good cook, bringing many of her home cooked dishes to the family gatherings. She will be remembered as being a funny and sassy lady, who deeply loved her family, especially her granddaughter. Sue is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Reynolds, of Jamestown; her granddaughter, Callie Reynolds, of Jamestown; her sisters, Rema Needels, of Virginia, Jennifer Beck, of Russell Springs, and Brenda (and Mitchell) Higginbotham, of Russell Springs; her brother-in-law, Richard Stephens; and her sister-in-law, Vicky (and Richard) McFall. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Joe David Zimmerman, who passed away on March 2, 2007; her brothers, Rollin L. Shearer and Jack Shearer; and her sisters, Norma Stearns, Naomi Wooldridge, Nadine Wilson, Debbie Stephens, and Cora Lee Bolin. Funeral services are at 12noonCT on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Bernard Funeral Home. Special music will be provided by her nephews, Josh Carey and Ryan Stephens. Burial will follow in Jamestown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 until the time of services . Todd Stearns, Nick Shearer, Barry Bolin, Jason Bolin, Caleb Reader, and Jordan Helm will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Higginbotham, Richard Stephens, Kevin Shearer, Kim Carey, Duchie Clay, and Stephanie Higginbotham. This story was posted on 2026-03-19 22:39:30
