Japanese students sell curry rice to raise funds for Mammoth Cave trip Students also participate in community; they will visit Colonel William Casey to tell about their experiences as International Students at Lindsey Wilson College With one photo By Emily Fryman Lindsey Wilson College staff writer COLUMBIA, KY Japanese students in the Lindsey Wilson College International Student Club sold homemade Japanese curry rice in the Student Union Building Wednesday, April 12. The fundraiser raised $289 for to send the students to Mammoth Cave National Park. "Some members of the club came to my house last night and this morning to cook and prepare the curry to sell today," said Suzy McAlpine, coordinator of International student services. "This is the first year we have done this kind of fundraiser." Students and faculty members joined in the fun and purchased their lunch to help raise money for the club. Some skipped cafeteria food and ate curry "Some people just stopped by and donated money. Others skipped the cafeteria food today and had curry," McAlpine said. On April 29th the Japanese students that are in the International student Club will travel to Mammoth Cave, Ky. and tour through the historic Mammoth Cave National Park. "We asked the students where they would like to take a trip to and Mammoth Cave is where most of the students voted to go," McAlpine said. "The money will pay for transportation and the cost for the tour." International students to speak at Colonel William Casey Fundraising for trips is not all that the students will do this semester. On April 21st the students will travel to Colonel William Casey Elementary School to speak to Girl Scouts about their experiences at Lindsey Wilson College.
