Community Supported Agriculture Week is Feb 16-20 From Madison Pergrem Cannon Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Proud, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's marketing brand and the official agriculture marketing brand of the state, is offering its Virtual Spring Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Week February 16-20, 2026, Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell has announced. "It's always better if you can buy from local farms. CSAs are an excellent and convenient way to do just that while at the same time supporting Kentucky's farm families," Commissioner Shell said. "The CSA Week is a great reminder that we have a large variety of farm products throughout our Commonwealth that can be brought directly into our homes. The hard work of all participating farmers and agencies makes this a success each year." The long-standing CSA model of purchasing shares or subscriptions directly from local farms allows consumers to directly connect to locally grown farm products. Now in its seventh year, Kentucky Proud is partnering with the Center for Crop Diversification at the University of Kentucky, the Food Connection at the University of Kentucky, Kentucky Horticulture Council, and Organic Association of Kentucky to host an online promotion to connect consumers with CSA farm opportunities during CSA Week. CSA shares typically consist of an individual or an assortment of farm products such as vegetables, fruits, eggs, meats, herbs, and flowers. Consumers purchase a share and in return receive boxes, bags, or baskets from the farm's harvest throughout the season. Shares vary in size, products, and subscription length with many customizable options. More than 66 CSA farms, the largest partner attendance yet, are participating in this year's Kentucky Proud CSA Week offering a wide array of Kentucky's freshest farm products. "The Kentucky Horticulture Council is proud to take part in the Kentucky Proud CSA Week and support the farmers who help feed our communities," said Bethany Cox, Direct Marketing Program Manager at the Kentucky Horticulture Council. "This event showcases the wide range of Kentucky farms, and the benefits CSAs offer everyone involved." "CSA is about building win-win relationships that strengthen locally grown foods, farms, and the wider community. When you sign up for a CSA the upfront commitment makes a season-long impact for growers and you gain convenient access to healthy foods that nourish you and the land." Said Katie Harvey, CSA Program Manager at the Organic Association of Kentucky. "At The Food Connection, we view CSAs as a way to strengthen our food system by keeping food dollars local and expanding access to fresh, Kentucky-grown food," said LaToya Drake, Communications Support with The Food Connection. "CSAs also support food dignity by giving people real choices and a direct connection to fresh, nourishing food -- showing what food as medicine looks like in everyday life." "The Center for Crop Diversification is proud to support and celebrate the incredible CSA farms across Kentucky. These dedicated growers work tirelessly to provide Kentuckians with fresh, nutritious food and beautiful flowers that nourish both body and spirit.
