Jane Lampton Chapter NSDAR joins in America250! Celebration By Mike Watson Valerie Jane Murrell Adams became the first person to sign her application for membership into the Jane Lampton Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, for our Nation's 250th Anniversary celebration. Mrs. Adams signed on January 12, 2026, documenting her ancestor, John Tupman, of Virginia, who was a sailing master during the American Revolution and continued in that occupation as Captain of a ship during the years that followed. He, his crew and ship were lost at sea in 1797. A land grant, based upon his service, was later located in Adair County, and his two children: William Tupman, born 1790, and Nancy, born 1788, who married Benjamin Settles, migrated and settled in Adair County and, thus, founded the Tupman family in Kentucky.
