Carol Perkins receives 2025 Coleman Award From Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce Chamber President Daniel Bragg had the honor of introducing Mr. Herb Sparks, local attorney and historian, as the Presenter for The Jim C. Coleman award. The recipient was honored at the Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce Christmas Banquet on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the Old School Gym in Edmonton, KY. Herb Sparks had no problem sharing stories and introducing this year's recipient. He told the crowd he could talk for hours but decided to pare down his speech a bit as he announced Mrs. Carol Perkins as the 2025 Coleman recipient. Surprise and maybe shock was on the beautiful face of the stunned educator, author, radio personality, wife, mother, and friend. Carol Perkins was born and raised in Metcalfe County. She has been devoted to Metcalfe County for her entire life, serving as an educator for the Metcalfe County School System and Western Kentucky University, and even returned after retirement when teachers were needed. A beloved cheerleading sponsor and true master of school spirit, she lifted generations of students with her enthusiasm and heart through classrooms, hallways, and community events. Through her popular radio show with the beloved, Susan Chambers, infamous newspaper articles, and warm humor, she has connected neighbors, uplifted hearts, and captured the beauty of everyday life. As an organizer for Operation Christmas Child, Metcalfe County Shoebox Mission she extended compassion far beyond county lines and challenged us locally to care for others who will never be able to thank us. An author of several books, she has preserved Metcalfe County's history and memories for future generations and challenged readers to find the fun in all our travels and family gatherings. Thank you for strengthening the ties in our community in everything you do. Congratulations Carol Perkins and well deserved! This story was posted on 2025-12-04 09:46:51
