Lindsey Wilson community celebrates Christmas season

By Duane Bonifer

The Christmas season unofficially opened at Lindsey Wilson University on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, as one event celebrated the meaning of the season while another prepared to serve the community a big helping of holiday cheer.

At the final weekly chapel service of the 2025 fall semester, held Wednesday morning in the John B. Begley Chapel, Lindsey Wilson Chaplain the Rev. Tyler Brumfield led the community in "Scriptures & Songs of Christmas."

In addition Brumfield's thoughtful and uplifting homily about the Christmas season, the service included scripture readings by LWU students, as well as performances of seasonal and sacred pieces by the Lindsey Wilson Handbell Choir, under the direction of musical professor Gerald Chafin, and the Lindsey Wilson Singers, under the direction of music professor and Director of Choral Activities Jennifer Bersaglia.

Then on Wednesday evening, the cast of Holiday Cabaret held its final rehearsal before preparing to stage three public productions: 7pmCT Thursday, December 4, and Friday, December 5, 2025, and 2pmCT on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Admission to the 70-minute review of Christmas music by the LWU Department of Theatre is a canned food item. The show features performances by LWU students, LWU employees and area residents. It is directed by graduate assistant Kassidy Phelps '24, who also appears in several musical numbers.
