Basketball: Indians open season Dec 1 against Elizabethtown

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is over, Indians basketball is back! The Tribe will open the 2025-2026 season at 7pmCT on Monday, December 1, 2025, against the Elizabethtown Panthers in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Tickets are available at hometownticketing.com.

The Panthers come off a 7-21 season last year that saw them go down in the opening round of the 17th District Tournament. The Tribe met with Etown in the season opener last year on the road, and were able to pull out a tough 79-72 win. However, both the Indians and Panthers will be very different teams than they were last season. Elizabethtown lost 74% of their scoring from last season to graduation, while Adair County also saw the majority of their production graduate. With this in mind, both teams will be looking for new scorers to lead the way throughout the coming season.

A couple of key Indians players are also up in air for playing on Monday. Senior Dawson Gilbert is day to day with an injury, and transfer Landon Blakey is still pending eligibility.

Whoever is or isn't on the field, the Indians could certainly be boosted by a great home court environment, so, if you can, get to the Burr and be loud on Monday!
