Achilles Award presented to Anne Devore-Birge By Kim Harwood, Executive Director Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce Anne Devore-Birge was presented with the Achilles Award at the Annual Chamber Christmas Banquet on Monday, November 24, 2025. The Edmonton Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce recognizes a deserving community member for the Achilles Award each quarter. Achilles was the Chamber mascot and beloved companion of Bill & Chris Lagermann. He made an appearance at most every Chamber event, and he will be forever loved and missed by this community. You may know Anne Devore-Birge as a local business owner and huge supporter of all things Metcalfe. Anne has owned and operated Wall Works on the Square in Edmonton since 2016. Anne is an ideal choice for the Achilles Awards for many reasons, but her gift of caring for others and answering the call in times of tragedy has been apparent over the last several weeks. Anne has sent food to families who have lost loved ones, provided flowers in situations where the money was not there. She is known for her generosity in the community, donating to school events, benefits to pay for medical care and funeral expenses, not to mention the gift of listening to those who just need to talk. Anne supports and encourages other small business owners and is a role model for perseverance. Anne's business has seen lean months, but she does not give up, she works that much harder. These qualities are what makes Anne an ideal choice for the Achilles Award. The Achilles Award does not come with money or ribbons but a heartfelt appreciation for those who help make Metcalfe County a better place, thank you Anne Devore-Birge for doing just that!
