Huge Christmas Celebration in Greensburg on Dec 5

From Karen Roland

Light Up Greensburg is scheduled for 4:30pmCT on Friday, December 5, 2025, and the Annual Greensburg Christmas Parade will begin at 5:30pmCT. The Green County Arts Council, in coordination with the City Of Greensburg, is creating a small town Christmas to remember, featuring events and activities for kids of ALL ages, young and old, as early as 10amCT on December 5.

The themed celebration "Making Memories" begins with a Winter Wonderland Boutique Market, from 10amCT to 5pmCT, at the Community Center at 110 N. 1st Street, Greensburg, KY. Come shop local with unique and hand-made or crafted goods for the special people in your life (or treat yourself!).

The FREE Ice Rink opens at 1pmCT on Court Street in front of City Hall and will be open til 7pmCT. The Green County Arts Council and the City of Greensburg would like to express their thanks to Jane Todd Crawford Hospital for their sponsorship of the ice skating rink for Christmas On The Square. Their support will provide a wonderful opportunity this holiday season for the community. We invite everyone to enjoy this event on Friday December 5, 2025.

Of course, all that shopping and skating will work up that holiday appetite for goodies and home-made treats. Opening at 1pmCT, will be the Gingerbread Bakery, in the old city clerk building near the footbridge, featuring irresistible baked goods and candies.

Continue your sweet treat hunt across the footbridge to the Candy Cane Depot for Millie's Pecans, Cotton Candy and Popcorn. People's Bank will also be set up with their treats for the public. Pow Wow Parties will be fashioning balloon animals and shapes for kids to enjoy and there will be a coloring station for little ones, from 1pmCT-5pmCT.

At the Masonic Lodge on Main Street, the Fire Department will be hosting a Chili/Soup Fundraiser to warm your tummy.

All afternoon, Santa and Mrs Claus will be holding court for the children-at the Old Courthouse, from 1pmCT to 4pmCT, and be sure to join Santa for Milk & Cookies at Longhunters on the Square AFTER the Parade. Pictures will be sponsored by Forcht Bank. Look for Santa's helper, Anna Warf, handing out free Christmas books for the kids, also at the Old Courthouse.

Enjoy Christmas Cookie Decorating, hosted by the Greensburg Baptist Church, 130pmCT-430pmCT in their Community Room. Then across the street at the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, Green County Homemakers will have beautiful quilts on display from 2pmCT- 4pmCT. Both are FREE and open to the public.

From 3pmCT -5pmCT, there will be FREE old-fashioned Carriage Rides about the Square with the stage-coach stop at Longhunters. Listen for the Christmas Carolers singing from 3pmCT- 5pmCT also around the Square.

The Green County Public Library will also be having their Open House until 4pmCT on December 5, 2025, with the Grinch and Christmas activities and giveaways. This is the last day to turn in those Gingerbread Houses for judging by public voting. Pick up your kit now to enter. Enjoy the library's Book walk over the footbridge, too.

As Santa and Mrs Claus leave to prepare for the Christmas Parade, enjoy Bad Country playing Country and Southern Rock at the old Courthouse from 4pmCT-7pmCT.

Light Up Greensburg will be at 430pmCT before the parade. Line Up for the Christmas Memories Parade will be also at 430pmCT at the Church of the Nazarene on Bluebird Lane and the parade begins at 530pmCT. There will be $500 awarded to the First Place Float, and $200 for 2nd Place. General Entry, 1st Place will be $100 and $50 for 2nd. Local businesses, churches, organizations and civic groups are welcome and help to make Christmas in Greensburg, a magical and memorable event. Deadline to sign up is December 4th but don''t wait and start that float now!

Kicking off the Christmas Festivities will be Ugly Sweater Day on December 1, 2025. Pick out your ugliest, craziest and over the top Christmas Sweater and send your selfie to Green County Arts Council Facebook page to be shared on our page.

Everyone is invited to "Star of Wonder" at 6pmCT on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2025 at the Community Center, a musical presented by Summersville Church of the Nazarene, sure to be full of the Christmas Spirit and celebrate the reason for the season.
