Song written by Columbian was an award winner

Columbia resident Wayne Toney, a videographer and songwriter, was drawn to Adair County by his wife Shea. He moved here, along with his business, Spotlight Media Creations.

He recently shared a special accomplishment about being moved to write a song after a visit to his hometown where he saw many changes - like many small towns across America. The name of his song is "Back Then" and it was performed by Tyler Hursey.

The song wound up getting nominated for the Arkansas CMA music video of the year.

Sarah Stagg wrote the following news items about the song and the award in the Ashley News Observer.

Toney and Hursey were nominated for the Video of the Year category for their collaboration on "Back Then", the song Toney wrote about his experience growing up in Crossett in the 1980's, then coming back as an adult to see how much it had changed.

After writing his song, "Back Then", Toney reached out to Hursey to record it. Shortly after, they got together to shoot the video Toney designed, which included Crossett landmarks like the former Oakhurst Minit Shop - which burned in recent years - as well as Centennial Park and the Southern Fixin's Diner on Main Street. He also reached out to Larry Joe Smith from the Big Dawg to do the radio voice portion of the video.

The song can be heard at this link - www.spotlightmediacreations.com .
