Adair receives fourth place at KMEA Finals

The Adair County High School Marching Band traveled to Bowling Green this weekend to compete in the KMEA semi-finals and finals competitions.

The Adair County High School Marching Band season comes to a close this Monday night as the community is invited to a FREE performance at Parnell Family Stadium, 928 Russell Rd, Columbia, KY. The public is invited to attend to see the students final show run and meet the students who play each instrument. First up, the group took on 11 other bands from the East and West regionals in Class AAA at Warren East High School. The top six bands from this event advanced to the finals competition later that evening at L.T Houchens Stadium at Western Kentucky University.

Class AAA Semifinal scores:
  1. Murray received first place with an overall score of 88.05
  2. Taylor County received second place scoring 85.05
  3. Russell County came in third with a score of 82.90
  4. Adair County placed fourth scoring 81.40
  5. Allen County Scottsville scored 79.12
  6. LaRue County rounded out the top six scored 78.80
Other local bands also traveled to compete in the Class A semi-finals. Campbellsville High School who placed ninth with a score of 76.25, Green County High School received 11th place with a score of 74.45 and the Metcalfe County High School Marching Band received 6th, scoring 80.30, and advancing to the finals, a first in School history for Metcalfe County.


Throughout the day, the crowd at L.T Houchens Stadium were treated to seeing the best bands from across the Bluegrass battle it out for their place in K.M.E.A history. Adair County took the field Saturday evening at 7:30pmCT to an electrified crowd and an outstanding number of supporters in the stands. Finals awards were presented at 11:30pmCT.

Class AAA Final scores:
  1. Murray received first place with a score of 89.85
  2. Taylor County received second place scoring 88.45
  3. Russell County received third with a score of 85.20
  4. Adair County placed fourth scoring 85.15
  5. LaRue placed fifth scoring 84.30
  6. Allen County High School finished sixth with a score of 83.20
