Letter: Visiting graves of ancestors in Adair Co.

By Bill Powell

My name is Bill Powell of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. I recently visited Adair County to see the graves of my ancestors. I am the grandson of Jesse Peter Powell and Cinda Jane Powell. The are interred in the Buelah Chapel cemetery with my father's three brothers, Joe, Woodruff and Edwin.

I also went to Bearwallow cemetery and found the graves of Cyrenus and Julia Burton, my grandmother's parents. Nearby was my other great-grandfather, WH Powell, a Civil War veteran of the 13th Kentucky Infantry.

I'm 76, so this may have been my farewell tour, but I brought along my son Chris, who says he will return someday.

Note: If anyone local would like to reach Bill, his email address is x10thaircav@yahoo.com.
