CRD School Time Theatre series kicks off Oct 20 From Sharon Dodson The Center for Rural Development The Center for Rural Development is kicking off our School Time Theatre series with TheaterWorks USA's "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical" at The Center for Rural Development's Cornelia Dozier Cooper Theatre, 2292 South Hwy. 27, Somerset, KY. This is a zany, fast-paced musical that's sure to have students laughing out loud. "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!, based on the popular book series by Mo Willems, will take the stage for two shows at 10amET and NoonET on Monday, October 20, 2025. The cost is $8 per student and paying adults. The show, recommended for pre-kindergarten through third grade, runs for approximately one hour. "Children love the book series. Now, they can see the characters come to life on stage," said Laura Glover, Managing Director of Convention and Facility Services for The Center for Rural Development. "This is a great opportunity to introduce the arts to younger audiences." School Time Theatre performances are open to the public, but seating is based on availability for each show. Schools and individuals may reserve seats for this performance through the online order form posted at www.centertech.com or by email at events@centertech.com. If you are a Kentucky teacher or school planning to attend School Time Theatre performances, you may apply for a grant to help cover transportation costs through the Kentucky Arts Council's Arts Miles Program Grant. The grant program enables teachers and schools to provide their students with high quality arts experience by funding transportation to programs provided by organizations in the Arts Miles Directory. School may apply for a grant based on the roundtrip mileage from their building to the facility and driver's pay for up to two buses per field trip. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis between October and March as funding permits. For more information on the Arts Miles Program Grant, visit https://artscouncil.ky.gov/program/arts-miles-directory/. This story was posted on 2025-10-01 10:46:18
