Kendall and Cecile Harvey honored on 50th anniversary Family and friends celebrate Golden Anniversary of beloved Adair County couple with food, gifts, and fellowship at Wheet Hall Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Harvey celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, March 25, 2006, with family and friends gathered at Wheet Hall at the Columbia Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Harvey is well-known in the area as a master craftsman. He is the founder, with son Terry Harvey, of H & H Construction, generally considered the pre-eminent quality home builders in South Central Kentucky Mrs. Harvey is well remembered by those who worked with her at OshKosh for several years and by family and friends as a wonderful homemaker. Most of their lives spent in Fairplay community, Columbia The Harveys have lived most of their lives in Adair County, in the Fairplay community, and, at present, in Columbia. Since retirement, they have lived in a new home built by Mr. Harvey and son Terry. The Harveys have touched many lives, starting with those of their four children: Rick Harvey, who is pastor of Springdale Church of the Nazarene in Ohio; Linda, who is owner and manager of Linda's Diner on Monument Square in Jamestown, KY; Darla, who is an investment broker living in Gradyville, KY, and Terry, a partner with Kendall Harvey in their construction business. Though it is not widely publicized, Mr. Harvey spends a great deal of time building bicycles for special needs children. He is well known for flying lightweight aircraft and for hang-gliding, until a bad fall stopped that. The celebration meal, with cake and punch, was prepared and catered by Linda's Diner. The Harveys enjoyed the chance to welcome the many family and friends who attended the celebration. Since the passing of his father, Finis Albert Harvey, Kendall Harvey has reigned as one of Adair County's greatest story-tellers. Both Mr. and Mrs. Harvey enjoyed sharing memories, and the wonderful gifts they received. This story was posted on 2006-03-28 06:42:16
