CPD: Former ACRJ employees indicted

From Columbia Police Department

The Columbia Police Department reports that a theft complaint, filed on August 18, 2025, by Adair County Regional Jailer Buddy Powell, has led to the arrest of two Columbia residents, both of whom were formerly employed at the Adair County Regional Jail.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Adair County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Brandon Hitch and Deputy Sheriff Joshua Durbin served the indictment warrants on the pair. Bond for each was set at $10,000 cash.


Misty M. Shover, 46, and Montie D. Shover, 55, have each been charged with the following offenses:
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, $1,000 < $10,000
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Official Misconduct, 1st Degree
Columbia Chief of Police Evan Burton is the investigating officer.
