ACSO: two from Columbia and Greensburg arrested

On September 19, 2025 Adair County Deputy Sheriff Hunter Tweedy made a traffic stop on Burkesville St. that resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

Arrested were Daniel Cagney Burton age 40, of Columbia, and Kelly Smothers age 45, of Greensburg.


Burton was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of marijuana, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to produce insurance card, obstructed windshield, no rear view mirror.

Smothers was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine, prescription controlled substance not in proper container 1st offense, possession of controlled substance 3rd degree drug unspecified.

Both were taken to the Adair County Regional Jail

Arrests were made by Adair County Sheriff's Deputies Hunter Tweedy and Rick Eastham.
