ACSO: Impaired driver arrested on multiple charges

On Friday, September 12, 2025, Adair County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to car sitting in the roadway about 8 miles out E. Hwy 80 in Adair County. Deputy Joey Keith met a vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

While Deputy Keith was standing outside the stopped car, the operator of the vehicle attempted to leave the scene. The driver backed into Deputy Keith's vehicle and then struck a vehicle operated by Adair County Deputy Nick Barber. A brief pursuit ensued, ending when the operator of the car got stuck in ditch.

Annie McNelly, age 30, of Russell Springs, was placed under arrest and charged with DUI, fleeing or evading police 1st degree, 2 counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer 1st degree, criminal mischief 1st degree, and was additionally cited for lack of insurance.

Neither Sheriff's Deputies nor McNelly were injured. Sheriff Gary Roy would like to commend the Deputies for their quick and decisive action to get the impaired driver stopped.
