The Nerd opens June 19 at Barn Lot Theater From Kyle Hadley Edmonton, KY - The local theater community is set to burst with laughter as the much-anticipated production of Larry Shue's "The Nerd" opens on June 19, 2025. This side-splitting comedy will run through June 29, 2025, with performances scheduled for Thursdays through Saturdays at 7pmCT and Sunday matinees at 2:30pmCT. Set against the backdrop of a seemingly normal life, this comedic masterpiece follows the story of an architect, Willum, whose world is turned upside down by an unexpected visitor. This visitor, Rick, who once saved Willum's life in Vietnam, is an eccentric and socially awkward "nerd" who quickly overstays his welcome. As Rick's antics spiral into absurdity, Willum is driven to consider extreme measures to return to his peaceful existence. Brace yourself for a side-splitting parade of shenanigans that'll have you in stitches from curtain up to curtain call! With a PG rating for mild language, "The Nerd" is the ultimate comedy caper for everyone, making it the ideal choice for a night of giggles and guffaws! Willum is played by Rick Barnes, with Stephanie Barnes as Tansy. The cast also includes Dwayne Rice as Axel, Bradley Williams as Waldgrave, Kristin Dale as Clelia, Clayton Damron as Thor, and Josh Damron as Rick. The production is directed by the talented Julie Adkins, with Sandy Roberts Dunn serving as the Assistant Director. Together, this dynamic team promises to deliver a production that captures the humor and heart of Larry Shue's beloved play. Performances will be held on June 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, and 29, 2025. The shows are scheduled for Thursdays to Saturdays at 7pmCT, with Sunday performances at 2:30pmCT.
