By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County High School Indians Baseball team currently sits at 23-10. The Indians are headed to the 5th region tournament after a runner-up finish in the 20th district tournament.

In the district tournament, Adair County defeated Campbellsville 6-5 in the first round, before falling 3-4 to Taylor County in the championship game. Both of those games were played on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

In their win over Campbellsville, Junior Bryce Russell was credited with the win going three innings and giving up just three runs and four hits while striking out three batters on 53 pitches. Three other Indians took to the mound in the game, all of them contributing at least an inning.

Sophomore Alex Martin led the Tribe in hits having two on three at bats, he also posted two stolen bases to lead the team in that category as well. Jackson Sinclair, Brayton Coomer, Dax Conn, and Jasper Kemp all contributed one hit, with Coomer and Kemp batting in two runs each to lead Adair County in that statistic.

The Indians now face Nelson County (19-11) in the opening round of the 5th Region Tournament. That game is set to begin at 9amCT on on Monday, May 26, 2025, at at North Hardin High School, 801 S Logsdon Pkwy, Radcliff, KY.

The Cardinals of Nelson County reached their spot in the 5th Region Tournament by winning the 19th District 4-3 over Bethlehem in the first round, and 6-5 over Washington County in the Championship.

The Cardinals and Indians met previously back on March 22, 2025, in what was the third game of the season for the Indians. In that game, Nelson County won 10-0 in Bardstown. Adair County will hope to win the rematch against the Cardinals and then move on to face the winner of Green County (18-11) and Central Hardin (14-20) on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
