Mary Christine Mitchell, 93, Green County, KY

Mary Christine Mitchell, affectionately known as Christine to many, was born July 14, 1931 in Green County, KY to Robert Wilson Anderson and Flora Greene Penick Anderson. A longtime resident of Greensburg, KY, she spent her last years in Louisville where she passed at the Masonic Homes Kentucky on May 5, 2025 at the age of 93.

She was the youngest of eight siblings (Bessie, Ruth, Louise, Jim, Carl, Lucian and Willie) and married to Thurman Leslie Mitchell, who all preceded her in death. When she was younger, Christine worked many years at the Fruit of the Loom Company where she retired in 1993. She professed a faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Greensburg. There, she was an active member, engaged with vacation bible school and welcoming and hospitality committees.

At church homecomings and family dinners, Christine loved cooking her favorite meals and desserts. She was a meek, kind and gentle soul that brought joy and laughter to her loved ones. Christine enjoyed hosting visitors and spending time with her nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Larry E. Mitchell, Sr. (Kathy), of Greensburg; and daughter, Phyllis Mitchell Webb, of Louisville, who took care of her; grandchildren, Christina Webb Perkins, Louisville; Laurie Mitchell Adams (Ambrose) of Houston, Texas; Larry Mitchell, Jr., Indianapolis, IN and Cassandra Webb, Louisville; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Cory, Lyric, Amara and Ambrose. She will be missed by all who knew her.
