Walmart holds Grand Reopening event Walmart Manager Shaunda Soverly welcomed everyone to the grand reopening celebration of the Columbia Walmart store Friday. She said she couldn't be more proud of the transformation of the store and everyone who makes it work. Walmart first came to Columbia in 1984, first to the location on Jamestown Street, and then to the present location at the intersection of Burkesville Road and the Cumberland Parkway. After introductions and grant presentations Shaunda said, "I can't wait to see what lies ahead." The Cheer, a part of the Walmart culture, wrapped up the celebration. Vicky, a 41-year associate, led the cheer Sam Walton started with the employees, starting at the beginning of every day and every meeting. All the 20-year associates were brought up to lead the ribbon cutting making the ceremony official. This story was posted on 2025-05-07 10:43:16
