Archery: LWC posts 10 podium finishes at Outdoor Regionals

Williamsburg, KY - The Lindsey Wilson archery team opened the USA Outdoor Archery Regionals with 10 podium finishes on Thursday at the UC All-Purpose Field.

Individual qualifying rounds also took place on Thursday. In the men's recurve qualifying, the Blue Raiders hold the top three spots and have two more in the top 10. T Sanchez qualified first with a 606 (294-312) with 13 10s. Daniel Clayton posted a score of 521 (236-285) to finish second while Tanner Boyd was third with a 517 (254-263). AJ Shagool is seventh with a 439 (201-238) while Zach Jackson carded a 292 to finish ninth.

Layla Blevins posted the fourth-best qualifying score in women's recurve with a 487 (242-245) while recording five 10s. Carlee Drury placed 12th with a score of 342 (133-209), while Micah Bettersworth was 14th with a 272 (147-125).

In men's compound, Parker Braddock finished third with a 685 (338-347) with 40 10s. Turner Nevitt carded the sixth-best score with a 682 (341-341) and 37 10s. Ken Parsley finished 11th with a 679 (340-339) while Seth Pipes was 14th with a 670 (329-341).


Anna Krampe finished sixth in women's compound carding a 661 (329-332) and 24 10s. Sophia Hunziger totaled a score of 642 (321-321) to place 12th while Alea Boyd was one spot behind with a 637 (325-312).

TJ Ramsey posted the second-highest score in men's barebow with a 537 (272-265) and eight 10s. Dylan Langley finished eighth after carding a 461 (201-260) while Sean Neal and LaQuann Williams finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

The Blue Raiders had three finish in the top-10 in women's barebow. Morgan Wilson placed fourth with a 454 (214-240), Maria Sampson finished right behind with a 446 (199-247), and Sarah McCarthy was eighth with a score of 429 (185-244).

Wyatt Burtts carded a 663 (330-333) to finish fourth in men's fixed pins. Jaden Souder finished sixth with a 655 (327-328) while Bronson Ormes finished 12th with a score of 643 (323-320).

In women's fixed pins, Audrey Mills finished fourth with a 642 (320-322) while MaKenna Langley was 15th with a score of 608 (306-302). Madeline McGuire was 21st with a 561 while Lilly Bowling was 22nd with a 530.

In the team rounds, Lindsey Wilson posted seven podium finishes with three golds, one silver and three bronze medals.

After earning a bye into the finals of men's recurve team, Sanchez, Clayton, and Boyd defeated Cumberlands (Ky.) 6-0.

Braddock, Nevitt, and Parsley took gold in men's compound team. The trio edged out Union (Ky.) 223-222 in the semifinals. In the finals, they defeated top-seeded Cumberlands 230-224.

Wilson, Sampson, and McCarthy earned gold in women's barebow team. The trio earned a bye into the semifinals where they defeated Pikeville 6-2. They then defeated Campbellsville 6-0 in the finals.

Hunziger, Alea Boyd, and Linda Parsley finished runner-up in women's compound team. They punched their tickets to the finals with a 220-211 victory over Union before falling to Cumberlands 227-216 in the finals.

Blevins, Drury, and Bettersworth were defeated by Pikeville 6-0 in the semifinals of women's recurve team. The trio then defeated Campbellsville 6-2 to earn a bronze medal.

Ramsey, Dylan Langley, and Neal finished third in men's barebow team. They fell 6-2 to Pikeville in the semifinals before defeating Campbellsville 6-0 in the third-place match.

Burtts, Souder, and Ormes finished third in men's fixed pins team. The trio was defeated by Pikeville 226-218 and then defeated Campbellsville 223-192 to earn bronze.

The Blue Raiders added three more podium finishes in the mixed team rounds. Sanchez and Blevins were defeated 6-0 by Pikeville in the finals of mixed recurve. After falling 149-111 to Union in the mixed compound semifinals, Braddock and Krampe defeated Pikeville 141-139 to finish third. Burtts and Mills were defeated by Pikeville 148-144 in the semifinals of mixed fixed pins. The duo then defeated Union 141-135 to earn bronze.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Friday for the head-to-head elimination matches and the Mid-South Conference team rounds.
