Rickey J. Thompson, 66, Columbia, KY (1958-2025) Rickey Jay Thompson of Columbia passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his residence with his family by his side. He was 66 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Jimmie Dale Cox and Bro. Jerremy Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in the Loy Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Saturday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Columbia, KY on April 9, 1958, to the late Owen Miller and Dora Helen Bennett Thompson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Janice Kay Appleby and April Bunch. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and retired from the U. S. Army, serving during Desert Storm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trading, talking on his CB radio where he was known as "Gizmo", and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Sharon Thompson of Columbia, KY; three children Toby Thompson (Leanna) and Crystal Wright (Michael) both of Columbia, KY and Joni Thompson of Cario, GA; two stepchildren Andrew Franklin (Lindsay) of Campbellsville, KY and Kyle Franklin (Maribeth) of Kuttawa, KY; eleven grandchildren William Thompson, Tyler Wright, Alex Wright, Jayla Franklin, McKenna Franklin, Halle Franklin, Anniston Franklin, Maddie Franklin, Hannah Franklin, Sierra Armstrong, and Addison Armstrong; a great grandson Bentley Burton; three siblings Tony Thompson (Scotty) of Sparksville, KY, Diana Roy (Nick) of Glensfork, KY and Stacy Corbin of Bowling Green, KY and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dylon Bunch, Will Thompson, Alex Wright, Tyler Wright, Wayne Blythe, Kenneth Bryant, and Josh Brockman. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
