Letter: Asian Lady Beetle From Veronica Arnold Adair County Extension Master Gardener They look like the lady bug, but more orangish in hue... they also hibernate inside homes. Ladybugs hibernate in leaf piles and outside woody debris, not inside. Asian lady beetles also put out that funky musk smell when bothered and disturbed. Like when you vacuum them up... inside and your vacuum smells. I have heard of them biting, but never seen. My $0.02 guess based on description without seeing the insect.
