Eggs limited and remodel underway at Columbia Walmart By Linda Waggener It's hard to know which news is the biggest - eggs limited to two cartons per customer, or a parking lot filled with shipping crates and banners announcing big changes to our Walmart. After news broke of the egg supply being affected by the loss of hens to bird flu, egg shelves were emptied overnight, requiring implementation of a limit of two cartons per customer. Current Grade A egg prices are at or above $8 for an 18-count. A crate city occupies approximately a fourth of the parking spaces at the Columbia Walmart, filled with new shelving, paint, electrical supplies and more. The interior is getting a massive overhaul, already the Subway is closed to make room for the growing customer pick-up. Renovation work is primarily being conducted seven days a week during third shift. Grocery Aisles will be completely remodeled. Restrooms are being repainted and getting new fixtures and lighting. Relocation of sporting goods to the former motor oil area and reorganization of hardware, paint, and other departments. The outsource team initially scheduled to complete renovations by early May. Currently they are two weeks ahead of schedule, aiming for completion by the end of April. The banners invite customers to use delivery service free of charge for a time to encourage use of the newest service. This story was posted on 2025-02-11 00:12:28
