Recovery story: thanks for calling the police

His Adair County family connections celebrate this five-year anniversary with Zachary and wish him a lifetime of success!

By Zachary Lynn

Gratitude is an action word! Just over five years ago I was arrested on charges that would change my life. I didn't see it then, but today I am grateful for that teller who called the police!

This night five years ago I was in CDC so sick that I don't think I got out of bed for about 10 days. At my lowest point I had stolen a check from someone and then went to the bank to cash it.

The teller knew the person and called the police.

The police surrounded the vehicle I was in as we started to drive away and I went to jail.

This was right at the beginning of Covid and I sat in jail for 3 months waiting to go to court. They finally started doing court on Zoom and I was released on drug court.

I went to jail two more times after that until I finally decided to go to treatment at ARC - Addiction Recovery Care.

June 10, 2020 is the day my life changed and I have been sober ever since and now I work for ARC! If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction please reach out! There is a better way to live if you are willing to put in the work!! (Zachary Lynn is on Facebook).
