Shirley Gossage, 67, Russell County, KY Shirley Gossage, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at her residence. She was 67 years of age. Born May 23, 1957, in Somerset, she was a daughter of the late Caleb and Helen Cooper Bernard. Shirley enjoyed landscaping, growing beautiful flowers, and spending time with her pets. She had a green thumb and a knack to get almost anything green to grow. Shirley was a very caring, loving person who never met a stranger. She was selfless and always put the needs of others above her own. Her desire to care for others became a way of life when she returned to school and became a registered nurse. Shirley was multi-talented, and once she put her mind to something, she would be determined to find a way to get it done. She was a one-of-a-kind soul and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include a son, Derek (and Katesha) Gossage, of Lebanon; two daughters, Allison (and John) Cubit, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Amanda (and Eric) Gilbert, of Columbia; a brother, Ronnie (and Kathy) Bernard, of Albany; a sister, Bonnie (and Bruce) Wade, of Russell Springs; and eight grandchildren, Sydney Cubit, Kyle Cubit, Xander Gossage, Natalie Gilbert, Dawson Gilbert, Bodi Cubit, Luca Cubit, and Grayson Gossage. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Bernard and Larry Bernard; and two sisters, Charlotte Ross and Geraldine Lawless. Funeral services are 12noonCT Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 until time of services.
