Garry Moore Thomas, 73, Russell County, KY Garry Moore Thomas, of Russell Springs, passed from this life on New Years Day of 2025, at his home. He was 73 years of age. Garry was born November 7, 1951, in Russell County, son of the late Ellebree and Olza Shepard Thomas. On this past December 14, he and his wife Patricia had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary commemorating 50 wonderful years of marriage. Garry was a farmer; his family would say he was born in the wrong era. At heart, he was a cowboy; he had a great love for riding horses and raising sheep. Garry was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. In the past, he had worked at Russell Sportswear, Osh Kosh, Fruit of the Loom and American Greetings. Garry was a UK basketball fan. Garry is survived by his wife, Patricia Burton Thomas; their two sons, Matthew (and Ginny Rose) Thomas, of Russell Springs, and Micah (and Kori Beth) Thomas, of Scottsville; his brother, Lewis Ellebree Thomas, of Russell Springs; his grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Bella and Maddie Thomas, and Korbin and Karol Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Along with his parents, Garry is preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Jean Hall. Funeral services are 1pmCT Monday, January 6, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkerson Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Wallace Thomas, Jr., James Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Micah Thomas, Korbin Thomas and Matt Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Thomas, Lucas Thomas, Scott Hall, Robert Hall, Steve Foley, Joe Aaron, Darris Bennett and Doug Burton. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 5 until 8:00 and after 7:30 Monday, until the time of funeral services.
