Weather update Sunday morning, January 5, 2025

Today: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 1pm, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 1pm and 2pm, then rain likely after 2pm. Some thunder is also possible. High near 36. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a slight chance of rain between 1am and 3am. Low around 31. East wind 7 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday: Snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain before 7am, then snow, possibly mixed with rain between 7am and 8am, then snow after 8am.


Temperature falling to around 28 by 5pm. West wind 10 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday Night: A chance of flurries before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light north after midnight.

The snowflakes were big and beautiful early Sunday morning. The weather report calls for it to turn to rain later in the day, and with low temperatures, to ice. Travel carefully.
