Rick Alan Emerson, 69, Russell County, KY Rick Alan Emerson, of Russell Springs, passed from this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his home. He was 69 years of age. Rick was born February 21, 1955, in Somerset, son of the late Ivan G. and Mary Lois Bradley Emerson. On July 10, 1968, at the age of 13, Rick accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized as a member of Union Baptist Church, where he remained a member at his passing. After graduating Russell County High School, Rick earned his masters degree in education from the University of Kentucky. He taught for over 20 years for Russell County Schools, a majority of that time as a teacher at Salem Elementary. Rick had a great loyalty to Russell County Schools and Lakers sports and to the University of Kentucky and their Wildcats sports teams. He was a devoted Make America Great Again supporter and was a car enthusiast. He is survived by his brother, Gary Emerson, of Russell Springs; his sister, Kathy (and Vic) Rexroat, of Russell Springs; his nephews, Joel Emerson, Alex (and Mandi) Rexroat and Andrew (and Katy) Rexroat, all of Russell Springs; his niece, Jackie (and Tyler) Cochran, of Crocus; his great nephews, Jackson Emerson, Adam Rexroat and Bryant Rexroat; his great-niece, Adeline Rexroat; his uncle, Jimmy Bradley; his aunts, Janis (and Gary) Phelps and Eldene Emerson; and many cousins and other family members. Along with his parents, Rick is preceded in death by his nephew, Adam Venson Rexroat; and his cousin, Erik Brandon Emerson. Graveside services will be held for the family in Union Cemetery at Gosser Ridge, Bernard Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Patterson officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Union Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 2273, Russell Springs, KY 42642 or to Gideons International for Bible placement.
