Basketball: Indians victorious in final MCIT game

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Saturday, December 29, 2024, the Adair County Indians Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the Campbell County Camels 61-59 in their second and final game of the Mason County Invitational. The Indians were sparked to victory with a go-ahead lay-in from Senior Brayton Coomer, with less than 2 seconds remaining.

The win improves the team to 8-3 on the season, and puts momentum behind them heading into the 2A sectional hosted by LaRue County, which will see the Indians face the Lakers of Russell County on January 2, 2025.

In their matchup against the Camels, the Indians shot 51% from the floor and 35% from three. The leading scorers were Isaiah Cochran with 27, followed by by Connor Loy with 13. Loy led in rebounds with 8, followed by Cochran with 7.

This win was a special accomplishment for the team as they were without senior Lane Grant, who has been a major producer for the team this season. Fortunately, Grant is expected to return for the matchup against Russell County.
